NMTG Holdback Device clutch is designed to transmit torque in one direction and overrunning (Freewheeling) in opposite direction. As the contacts between wedging elements (Roller, Sprag, CLS Cam, NDC Sprag, etc.) with inner race & outer race, these generate clamping forces. Holdback function prevent reverse rotation when input drive discontinued or power supply failure to input drive. Holdback clutch used to prevent damage caused by power supply failure.
