Locking Assemblies Stainless Steel

Locking Assemblies Stainless Steel

  • Good/very good corrosion resistance
  • Good chemical resistance
  • Reliable torque transmission even in difficult environments

High quality NMTG Locking Assemblies made of stainless steel are the preferred choice for all drive applications that place highest demands on the corrosion resistance of the components being used.

The high quality NMTG locking assembly made of stainless steel is the preferred choice for all drive applications that place the highest demands on the corrosion resistance of the components used. (i.e: Pump Manufacturing, food and beverage industry and in medical technology). In general, stainless products are used wherever increased risk of corrosion and purity are important criteria. Stainless steel in particular offers a variety of applications in the field of stainless constructions.

Our stainless steel locking assembly transmits torque as well as radial and axial forces completely backlash free and is also completely free from wear and maintenance. They are available as special solutions to suit users and in a wide variety of installed, readily available standard sizes and types.

About Keyless Locking Assemblies

NMTG Keyless Locking Assemblies works based on wedge friction theory. By tightening screws, clamp force is generated and due to taper geometry, the clamp force transmits force to other member in radial direction which induced contact pressure to the shaft & Hub. Clamping system connect two or more parts to shaft and hub which allow motion to be transmitted and to withstand an axial thrust. Due to Interference between two bonded parts at shaft and hub the torque can be transmitted from shaft to the hub through locking assembly.

Locking Assemblies develop pressure between shaft and the hub, which transmits highest torques free from backlash. Keyless transmission elements which have varied and versatile applications on almost all engineering fields. The elements have great absorbing capacity of kinetic energy by elastic radial deformation of tapered rings. The method is also very simple. By expansion of the outer ring & shrinkage of inner rings, frictional shaft & hub connections are established,

Thus gears, chain sprockets, pulley, drum, cam discs, flywheel can to be attached preciously. The supplied locking devices are ready for installation.

Drawbacks of Locking Assemblies Stainless Steel

Though apparently seems simple but preparing keyway is one of the difficult machining operations:

  • Increase in cost due to various operation involved – setting & down time + machining time
  • Lateral shifting of Keyways: in process it is extremely difficult to set the centre line of the keyway exactly symmetrical and parallel with respect to the radial plane
  • Heavy torsional stresses are concentrated at the corner of the keyway so shaft is weakened
  • Torque transmission capacity is limited and due to machining process, fretting corrosion take place.
  • Design and manufacturing is limited because of dimension constraint.
  • Deviation in keyway width
  • Not parallel to the axis

The cumulative effect of the all above (operational) errors, is really calls for an alternative system-keyless Transmission.

NMTG Keyless Transmission Elements entirely eliminates drawbacks of key transmission and conventional shrink connections and also involved calculations, extremely close machining tolerances - creating problems while fitting & removing parts and during repair work - adjustment, exchanging, etc. It efficiently replaces, key & polygon connections, splined shafts, etc.

Benefits of Keyless Locking Assemblies

on the shaft-hub connections compared with traditional systems

Keyless Locking Assemblies are most suitable for securing all types of bosses and hubs on shafts and axles:

  • Traditional methods of shaft-to-hub connection are not satisfactory in many applications, mostly when frequent start-stopping-reversing are involved. Over the time the keyway engagement became less accurate due to mechanical wear. Keyless locking assembly bridge the clearance between the shaft and the hub and distributes the power transmission over the entire surface while with a key connection the transmission is concentrated on a limited area only.
  • Keyless locking assembly reduced the machining cost, eliminates all the operations for axial fixing of hub and keyways or splines. This cost benefits become very high for small production batches.
  • Reduce the shaft stress by removing keyways or splines
  • Due to eliminating keyway notch factor often allows the use of a smaller diameter shaft.
  • Great advantages when more hubs are mounted anywhere on single shaft.
  • High capacity for both dynamic and static load.
  • No preparation or maintenance costs-– no follow-up costs.
  • No impact effect from reversing loads.
  • Majority of Keyless locking assembly models are self-centering
  • Reusable an infinite number of times.
  • No screw and threaded bore for axial locking.
  • Can handle a variety of loads including Transmission of high torques, bending moment, axial and radial thrusts.
  • Ability to adjust axial position and angular timing can be carried out on the spot.
  • Simple installation and Easy removal without damaging  the shaft or hub means easier maintenance for your customer – even after years of service
  • Eliminates backlash and No fretting corrosion due to fit tolerances & Completely tight fit around shaft
  • The high pressure between the contact surfaces and no space between connections so it have Corrosion resistant.
  • Keyless locking assembly - shaft - hub tolerances are sufficient for easy mounting and correct positioning.
  • Maximum reliability – no matter whether the connection is subjected to static, pulsating, dynamic or intermittent loads.
  • The large variety and the possibility of designing in keyless locking assembly we can manufacture customized models and find the best solution for any kind of specifications.

In this way, they can safeguard valuable machine components against damage. However the slip causes fretting of the contact surfaces, so elements should not be used as slip clutch.
